Moving Out

It is very important to give proper notice when you are planning to move-out. According to the Landlord Tenant Act proper notice means written notice given at least 30 days before the rental due date specified as the termination date in the notice. If you want to move between rental due dates, the notice must be delivered on or before the rental due date which falls at least 30 days before the move-out date. Improper notice may obligate you to pay rent for a month you actually will not be living on the property. If proper notice is not given you will be required to pay rent until unit is rented or lease has expired.

Also remember to clean the apartment thoroughly! It helps to do regular cleaning so the job at move-out is a lot less work.

We encourage you to schedule a pre-move-out inspection with your resident manager. They can tell you what more needs to be done, point out damaged items and other repairs that you may need to make.

You will also do a final walk through with your resident manager once the unit has been cleaned and you have your belongings ready to go. You and the resident manage will complete and sign a Move Out Form that documents the condition of the unit. If everything is in good standing, and your rent is paid in full, can you expect a refund of your security deposit.

Security Deposit

Within 14 days of your move-out, you will receive a letter via certified mail detailing your security deposit disposition, and your refund if any. This will be mailed to the address you provide, so please make sure it is current!

Questions regarding your security deposit should be addressed to your resident manager.
